Announcements

The 11-th National Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (11NCTAM) will be held 2 - 5 September 2009 in the Samokov hotel, Borovets, Bulgaria. The meeting is organized each 4 years. It is the largest Bulgarian forum tackling problems of general mechanics, solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of machines and manipulators, robotics, biomechanics, experimental and computer mechanics, seismic mechanics. The Institute of Mechanics (IMech) is the main organizer of the event, with co-organizers and sponsors: Federation of the Scientific-Technical Unions in Bulgaria, Scientific-Technical Unions of Civil Engineering in Bulgaria, Technical University - Sofia, Higher School of Civil Engineering "L.Karavelov", Central Laboratory of Physico-Chemical Mechanics - BAS and Technical University "Angel Kanchev" - Russe. Chairmen of the Organizing Committee are Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Manoach, Director of the IMech and Acad. Yachko Ivanov. Plenary lectures will be delivered by Acad. Ya. Ivanov, Corr. Member. St. Radev, Corr. Member A. Baltov, Prof. A. Rachev and by a number of foreign participants - Prof. D. Gross (Universitat Darmstadt); Prof. T. Schanz (Ruhr-Universitat Bochum), Prof. Al. Oron (Technion Israel Institute of Technology), Prof. S. Аhzi (University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg). The Preliminary Program includes 152 reports presenting the scientific results of 330 authors from Bulgaria, Germany, Russia, France, Greece, Belgium, Belarus, Italy, Ukraine, USA and Great Britain. Parallel events are two mini-symposia on micro-robotics and micro-meso-macro modeling of engineering materials.
