Project GASMEMS has started

The Marie Curie Initial Training Network GASMEMS is an European training network for young researchers in the field of rarefied Gas Flows in Micro Electro Mechanical Systems. The project has started in October 2008.
The two primary objectives of this ITN GASMEMS project are:

  •  to structure research in Europe in the field of micro gas flows to improve global fundamental knowledge and enable technological applications to an industrial and commercial level;

  •  to train ESR (Early Stage Researchers - PhD Researchers) and ER (Experienced Researchers - Post-doctoral Researchers) at a pan-European level, with the aim to providing both a global overview on problems linked to gas flow and heat transfer in microsystems, and advanced skills in specific domains of this research field.

The project coordinator is Prof Stéphane Colin from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse (INSA), University of Toulouse, France.  The network involves 13 main partners and 4 associated partners. Institute of Mechanics (IMech) - BAS is one of the main partners and Prof. Stefan Stefanov, the head of the Department of Complex and Multiphase Flows, is the project coordinator for IMech.
